John Luttrell
John is a lifelong Southern Indiana resident, originally from Gibson County. He got into broadcasting on a whim, when he needed an additional class to fill out his schedule during his Senior year attending Princeton Community High School. The beginning TV class was fun, but John had aspirations of a career in Graphic Design. Plans soon changed when John enrolled at Vincennes University, where he earned an Associate's Degree in Broadcasting. John then transferred to Ball State Univ. and received a Bachelor's in Telecommunications.
It took a while to break into the business, and John held a lot of different jobs (his favorite being a "beer man" for the Evansville Otters) before finally getting a part-time on-air/board operator position for a small independent radio station. Not too long afterward, John was hired at WTVW, in Evansville, where he worked behind the scenes on the TV newscast (John and Ron Rhodes are still good friends). After a year in television, John was seduced by the call of radio again, and jumped ship to become a part of the News staff at Newstalk 1280. He also does news for several of it's "sister stations."
John was married in 2007, and he and his wife share a love for St. Louis Cardinals and Evansville Otters baseball. They also have a dog, Chloe, who demands a lot of attention.
"I absolutely love working here, and it's my intention to develop a long-term relationship with WGBF and the area."
